Gaston à la médiathèque
Gaston à la médiathèque

multiplié is working on custom works and Gaston is one of them. It was commissioned by the Médiathèque de Nancy (France).

The device re-uses vintage telephones (from the 70s and 80s) to play and record audio content.

The reader in search of recommendations simply picks up the phone and listens to one of the suggestions for reading, film or music. These audio chronicles are recorded by users, library staff or partners (e.g. book clubs). The recording is done simply by using the telephone and dialling 0.

From a technical point of view, the electronics of old the time has been replaced by "modern" components and cards that allow audio content to be played and sounds to be recorded, which are then shared on all the phones.

The audio content is moderated via an interface and the operation is autonomous without the need for an Internet connection.
